How would you describe your shop’s vibe?

It’s definitely a laid back, relaxed environment, we want everyone to feel at home. Grab a coffee or a cold beverage and unwind, we will take care of the rest!

What’s your most popular cut at the moment?

The most popular cut is the ‘Crop ‘ by a long shot. Down to the woodwork on the sides with lots of texture throughout the top and a short manageable fringe. Most people are looking for a casual style they don’t have to think too much about in the mornings

Who is your favorite artist to spin in the shop?

It ranges from rock, hip hop, punk, jazz, new school / old school. But recently in the shop, we have been playing some Ghostface Killah and J.cole

What’s your favorite style to cut?

Anything a bit out of the ordinary. It’s so often in the barbershop that we see skin fade., Since lockdown its been exciting getting creative with more scissor work as everyone has had more locks to play with. My all-time favorite is a ‘Mullet’, Cropped fringe, gradually running longer into a heavily textured, longer nape!

What’s the best tip for someone visiting your area?

If you’re looking for interesting things to do then check out the ‘De La Warr Pavillion’ in Bexhill, for something a bit more gnarly head over to ‘The source skatepark’ and enjoy a skate in the worlds largest underground skatepark! You might get lucky and get a ‘Tommy’s Bar & Q’ smoked brisket and cocktail while you’re at it.

What the best advice for your client before walking in?

The best advice for a client visiting for the first time would be to have an idea in mind. Creating an image tailored to you is a task that should have some input from yourself. Think about how much time you have in the mornings and what best suits your lifestyle, are you a business man or can you get a bit more edgy with your look? Check out a few images on Instagram and show your barber a collage of pictures that interest you and they can help tailor it to you.

Why did you get into Barbering?

I have always been a creative person and I struggled academically. Like lots of other barbers, I was a bit rebellious and couldn’t see myself doing a ‘normal’ 9-5 office job. I didn’t make it to the last year at school and decided to pursue my career in Barbering. I enrolled in a 14-16 young apprentice scheme and started an NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing. Back then barbering was not as popular as it is now and the only courses available were for unisex but mostly women’s hair. Shortly before finishing the course, I started as an apprentice in a local barbershop and the rest was history! I went on to complete various different courses and my career has taken me to places I never thought I would get to. I’m now 13 years in and running a business of my own, but the journey has only just begun.
